For their latest solo show at Chicago’s Rotofugi Gallery, “souls gone mad,” art duo[coarse], comprised of Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk, created a new body of fiberglass and resin sculptures and photographs with a dark ambiance. A hint of anime-style cartoonishness pervades the exhibit, adding a touch of kawaii cuteness to the disillusioned characters and ghoulish imagery. Partially-nude, childlike figures appear vulnerable juxtaposed with menacing skeletons and mysterious mammals with slits for eyes. The smooth, glossy figures range from small-scale to an impressive life size. Take a look at some of the works in the show, images courtesy of Rotofugi.
